Evangelou returned today from a very successful training camp at the Floyd Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas. His Father and Manager, Dr Costakis Evangelou, had arranged for Chris to have a two week intensive training camp focusing specifically on sparring top American talent. He sparred top American prospects including Donte Strayton and MikeRue, together with a golden gloves champion and a top American prospect who has had 15 fights and KO’ed 12 of his opponents but Chris boxed superbly even against this top class sparring partners. He was coached by the world famous coach Roger Mayweather during his time in the Gym and clearly impressed all the coaches in the Gym; he also had an opportunity to meet current world champion Floyd Mayweather himself. Chris was training alongside Celestino Caballero the WBA Featherweight Champion, Berman Stiverne who will be challenging for the heavyweight title and Ismail Sillakh from the Contender Series on American TV. These champions have truly inspired Chris to achieve even greater heights. Chris who is preparing for his Southern Area Title bout at Alexandra Palace on Saturday 8th September more than held his own in this world famous Gym. By the end of the two weeks he had earned the respect of the boxers in the Gym, where sparring is at the quality of a real bout. The intense heat of the Gym and the quality of his sparring partners was fantastic preparation for Chris’ big night.
