A 34-year-old Greek Cypriot man with the initials KK has been remanded in custody at Larnaca court for eight days after a boy of 10 was raped Wednesday in Larnaca.
The man, who is a resident of the town, denies any involvement in the crime.
The man does not have a police record.
The Palestinian boy was playing with friends in the Phinikoudes area of the town when he was approached by a man on a motorbike at around 9pm Wednesday, according to police.
The man persuaded the boy to go off with him and later raped him under threat of a knife.
An examination found serious indications that the boy had been raped.
He is in shock in the Makarios Children’s Hospital in Nicosia.
And in Ayia Napa, a Norwegian woman aged 18, was raped on the beach at 4am
She, too, was examined by a police doctor who found evidence of forced intercourse.
He is said to have spoken in broken English.
