POLICE are investigating the robbery and attack of a 63-year-old woman at her shop in Limassol yesterday morning. The thief escaped with €150.
The woman is currently being treated at Limassol General hospital for injuries to her head.
According to police, a man wearing a straw hat entered her souvenir shop, hit the woman on the head without saying anything to her and grabbed €150. Police said they do not know what the thief used to hit her with.
The thief is described as 1.70m tall, of slim build, aged between 50 and 55. He was wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt and grey trousers at the time of the robbery.
In a separate incident on Wednesday afternoon in Limassol, two thieves burgled a 63-year-old woman at knifepoint, managing to escape with around €300.
According to police, the woman was in her garden at the time, when the two thieves approached her, wielding a knife, and demanded that she give them money.
They then dragged her, by the hand towards her house to get the money. The elderly woman took €300 that she kept in a drawer in her vanity table and gave it to them.
The thieves are described as around 1.85m in height, slim build, and were wearing woollen dark coloured balaclavas over their faces. They were also wearing black, rubber gloves. One of the thieves was wearing jeans and a blue, short-sleeved t-shirt.
