A Lebanese suspect arrested more than two weeks ago, suspected of planning attacks on Israeli interests in Cyprus, has similar behavior to a man detained for a terrorist attack in the Bulgarian city of Burgas, Justice Minister Loucas Louca said on Monday.
Louca was speaking during a press conference following the Informal meeting of the EU Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs in Nicosia.
The Cypriot Minister was asked whether there is a linkage between the Lebanese man detained in Cyprus and the suicide bomber who killed seven Israelis in Burgas last week and he said that “there are some similarities between the behaviour of the suspect, and the terrorist attack in Bulgaria”.
“I didn’t say his action is similar, but that some points of his behaviour are similar to the elements of the behaviour of the terrorist in the bomb attack in Bulgaria”, he said.
Louca noted that this is a very delicate case, we must all be very careful and since the case in under investigation, he does not wish to reveal any further details.
He also said that the Bulgarian Minister of Justice has informed his counterparts on the progress of the investigations, during today’s Informal meeting, however he stressed that he cannot say anything on the briefing and that it is “up to the Bulgarian authorities to reveal any further information”.
The 24 years old Lebanese suspect was arrested on July 7th in the coastal city of Limassol over an alleged anti-Israeli plot.
