George Achilleos will need perfect scores on Tuesday morning to keep alive any slim hopes he has of making the final in the skeet event.
Achilleos – who won world titles this season and was even at one point first in the world rankings – suffered six misses and is currently off the mark in the rankings with a 69/75 score. His first scores of 23/25, 22/25 and 24/25 are well below the qualifying mark and he will now need to score two perfect results of 25/25 if he is to stand a chance of qualifying for the final where only the top six go through.
Achilleos was Cyprus’ big hope for a first ever medal win going into London 2012.
His teammate, Antonis Andreou, is also behind on 68/75 while Antonis’ daughter, Panagiota, suffered an early exit on Sunday in the women’s category.
