Eroglu evaluates the decision of the Council of Ministers on Tymvios case
Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (12.07.12) reports that Turkish Cypriot leader Eroglu evaluated yesterday the recent decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus to accept the decision taken by the “Property Compensation Commission”, set up by Turkey in the occupied area of Cyprus, on the case of a Greek Cypriot refugee named Mike Tymvios, who had agreed with the “Commission” to exchange his property in the occupied area of Cyprus with a Turkish Cypriot property in the government-controlled area of the island.
Responding to a question during a meeting with Cukorova Journalists’ Union, Eroglu argued that this decision of the Council of Ministers “derived from necessity”. He alleged that the Council of Ministers approved the decision of the “Commission” because it knew that it would lose the case, if the issue had been taken to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Eroglu argued that the “Property Compensation Commission” was established after a decision by the ECHR and claimed that the recent developments show that the “Commission” is legal and the decisions it takes are valid. He said that the decision of the Council of Ministers could bring a development on the property issue.
Referring to the Cyprus problem, Eroglu alleged that those who started the incidents in the island became members of the European Union and the victims are under “isolation”. He claimed that the breakaway regime has everything needed to be a state and that it is developing each passing day with its 6-7 “universities” and the contribution of Turkey. He said that Turks exist in the island since 1571 and alleged that this place is a “Turkish country”.
In his statements, Cafer Esendemir, chairman of Cukurova Journalists’ Union, said that they have the impression that the Greek Cypriots became more intransigent after Cyprus assumed the EU term presidency. Moreover, he alleged that the “TRNC” being under “isolation” is something unacceptable.

The new illegal airport will reportedly be constructed on Tymvios’ land
Under the title “Tymvou came out from the exchange”, Turkish Cypriot daily Haberdar newspaper (12.07.12) reports that the property, which will be exchanged between Greek Cypriot refugee Mike Tymvios and the “Property Compensation Commission” set up by Turkey in the occupied area of Cyprus, is the area where the illegal Tumvou airport is located. The paper describes the approval of the agreement between Tymvios and the “Commission” by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus as “a new step in the direction of de facto arrangement in the property issue”.
An “official” told Haberdar that in exchange to his property in the occupied area of Cyprus, Tymvios was given land in Larnaka which belongs to the Turkish Communal Assembly. The “official” said that after this exchange, the new illegal airport which will be constructed in the occupied area of Cyprus will be built on land that will totally belong to the “TRNC state”.
According to the paper, Tymvios agreed to exchange 500 donums [Translator’s note: a land measure of around 1000 square meters] of land located south of illegal Tymvou airport and 100 donums of land in the Kyrenia area.
