The Cyprus delegation taking part in the London Olympic Games became officially on Wednesday a member of the Olympic village, following a welcome ceremony at the site’s main square.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, Cypriot athletes were welcomed in Greek by their British hosts and the Head of the Cyprus Olympic team Olga Piperides exchanged gifts with a village official and signed the Peace Wall for the Olympic Truce.

President and Secretary General of the Cyprus Olympic Committee Ouranios Ioannides and Charalambos Lottas were also present during the ceremony.

Along with Cyprus, athletes from Spain, Switzerland, Israel and Senegal were also welcomed. The opening ceremony of the London Games will be held on Friday, July 27
