US Assistant Secretary on European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon will pay a visit to Cyprus on July 12 and 13.
Diplomatic sources say Gordon’s discussions with Cyprus government officials will focus on issues regarding its EU Council Presidency, which begins on July 1, energy matters and bilateral relations.
Discussions are also expected to touch on recent developments as regards the ongoing UN led negotiation process, which aims to reunite the island, divided in 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
