Areti Mastrodouka is a female boxer from Athens in Greece and is now looking to execute an assault on the female Professional ranks in the United Kingdom. After having a flourishing and successful amateur career back home in Greece she is hoping to make an instant impact on the UK scene.

Nicknamed ‘The Master,’ Areti has had 10 years experience in the amateur ranks, having 35 fights, winning 28. Her record on Greek soil is second to none, having won each of her bouts in her homeland and becoming Greek Champion on 5 occasions. Her career highlight has to be the Silver medal she won in 2002 World Championships at Lightweight, and followed this up with a Bronze at the European Championships in 2003. Areti also has a background in kickboxing, where she won 29 of 30 bouts.

Aged 36, she has had her licence granted by the British Boxing Board of Control and was victorious in her debut professional bout on March 4th at the historical York Hall. Fighting an experienced opponent in Kristine Shergold, Areti dominated the fight and evidently adapted well to the professional game and won in style, winning 5 of the 6 rounds.

In terms of training in the UK, Areti has turned to the established TKO Gym in Canning Town, a facility which has been used by various world-class professional fighters since opening in 2006. She is being looked after by an experienced duo at the TKO Gym in trainer Alec Wilkey and manager Johnny Eames.

Areti is currently seeking sponsorship in order to concentrate on her goals of winning titles at world level. At present she has to travel backwards and forwards from Greece to train and fight in the UK, and when she is here she is staying with a friend of the TKO Gym who houses the fighters.

With Women’s boxing currently in the spotlight having been introduced for the first time in the Olympic Games in 2012, it is the perfect opportunity to sponsor a fighter who is sure to become established in the professional game. The discipline is sure to gain worldwide exposure from this and certainly gain recognition over years to come
