With a commanding 3-0 victory over AEL, Omonia went top of the league in this crunch game in the Marfin Laiki championship.

After the emphatic away win Omonia lead the rest on 37 points, while the AEL, which suffered their first home defeat of the season, remain on three points behind 34 points.

Omonia opened the scoring three minutes after the start of the second half when after Constantinos Makrides slotted home following a good build up.

The Nicosia side went 2-0 in 78th minute through George Efrem in a counter attack and he got his brace five minutes from time to make it 3-0.

This was the fifth away win for Omonia while AEL let in three goals for the first time in fifteen matches

In the other games Anayennisis drew 0-0 with Ethnikos and Anorthosis beat Enosis Neon Paralimni 1-0 with a goal from Vincent Lamban penalty in the 77th minute.
