LIVERPOOL’S glamorous new club PlayGround launched in style at the Hilton Liverpool with an exclusive party for VIPs.
No expense was spared on the £2m super-club, designed by the team behind Whisky Mist in London’s Mayfair.
Guests included new club members together with Jennifer Ellison, Rebecca Ferguson and Coleen Rooney.
The VIPs were treated to a £48,000 15-litre ebuchanezzar bottle of Armand de Brignac, Ace of Spades champagne and they danced through the night until the club closed at 4am.
Entertainment included a routine from Liverpool-based MD Productions and Grand Master Ash on percussion.
Singer/songwriter Rebecca Ferguson (pictured below at the club)insisted on having a turn on the drums and delighted clubbers by accompanying the DJ for half an hour.
There were circus acts, an angle grinder and a saxophone player as well as the PlayGround dancers.
By being there Rebecca Ferguson and Marcus Collins both from Liverpool, England, and that they both came in second place on “The X Factor” U.K. (Ferguson in 2010, and Collins in 2011). So it was perhaps inevitable that they eventually team up for a performance. That’s exactly what happened when the two singers did an impromptu duet of Jackie Wilson’s “Higher and Higher” at the Liverpool nightclub PlayGround.
“Higher and Higher” was one of the songs that Collins performed on “The X Factor” U.K. when he was a contestant on the show.
According to The Sun:
One onlooker, at the club in the duo’s native Liverpool. said the spotlight fell on Marcus’ table when the track came on and he just began to sing.
She said: “It was amazing, all eyes turned on Marcus (Photo below) when the track came on. He loved the attention and it was great to see him with Rebecca Ferguson as well. It was like best of the X Factor for two years running.”
The private members’ club was the creation of George Panayiotou of the Ability Group, who set out to bring some Las Vegas-inspired luxury to Liverpool.
Also there was Newly single Sugababes singer Heidi Range , flashing her now ringless finger.
But it seems for the Desperate Scousewives crew there can be no respite from their relentless partying schedule. Amanda Harrington and co-star Gillian O’Toole also hit the opening of Liverpool’s new PlayGround nightclub- where they met WAG royalty Alex Gerrard.
Liverpool fashion designer Kirsty Doyle designed the staff uniforms, Justine Mills from Cricket is running the membership scheme and WAG Alex Gerrard designed the cards for the £500-a-year membership.
PlayGround founder George Panayiotou said: “I am absolutely delighted all of the hard work in realising this dream has finally paid off.
“Liverpool is a fantastic city and has the most amazing people who really do appreciate what PlayGround is all about.
“We have invested over £2m to give Liverpool an amazing club.
“It has been a lot of hard work in the classroom and now it is time to get into the PlayGround.”
