ARMED police were called to a house in East Barnet last night after reports a man was armed with a crossbow.

Firearms units were sent to Crescent Road just after 6.30pm to reports that a man had locked himself in a room armed with a crossbow.

Members of his family were escorted out of the house by officers. And a police negotiator was called in – there were no hostages held in the house.

The man eventually came out at 23.40pm and is currently being treated in hospital.
