One man has been arrested and three more are being sought by police after hooded youths using teargas hijacked ballot boxes being used in internal elections at the University of Nicosia yesterday.
Elections were being held for student council posts when a group of 8-10 individuals stormed in and tear gassed the students in the voting room. Five were hospitalised.
Five of the eight ballot boxes were then taken away.
Police are investigating and have taken statements from staff and students.
They are also looking for three more indivdiuals in their 20s from Limassol and Nicosia.
