Peter Andre reminisces about Katie Price as he returns to I’m A Celebrity Peter Andre has made a triumphant return to the I’m A Celebrity jungle but his mind soon turned to the early days of his relationship with ex-wife Katie Price, with the singer soon discussing his lost love with camp mate Mark Wright.
The Mysterious Girl singer first entered the jungle as a contestant on the show in 2004, drawing headlines for his flirtation with Katie Price. The pair went on to marry and have two children before divorcing in 2009, with Katie returning to the jungle the same year. Andre has now made his own return to the place where he met his former wife, arriving in camp as a birthday treat for Dougie Poynter – with Fatima Whitbread particularly pleased by his arrival. Fatima exclaimed: ‘Oh my god, Peter Andre! ‘He’s the one person I would most like to be in the jungle with. If he’s staying overnight he can share my bed!
Crissy Rock also fought for Pete’s attentions, adding: ‘I’ve died and gone to heaven, I don’t mind if I’m chucked off tomorrow now. He can swing in my hammock anytime!’ But while Andre had the pick of the camp ladies he was distracted by thoughts of his former wife, surveying the camp before pointing to where Katie’s hammock had been. ‘I’m really touched, being here was the best experience of my life,’ he said.
‘Thank you so much for letting me revisit this, it was something I really had to do, I couldn’t understand why. ‘I met someone who I first time got engaged, first time ever I got married, got a girl pregnant, had children and it all came from meeting someone here, now that to me is pretty amazing.’ Katie Price and Peter Andre met on I’m A Celebrity in 2004 .
Reminiscing about the early days of his relationship with Price, the reality TV star explained that things were a ‘lot more intense’ in the jungle, adding that ‘you are more sensitive’. He revealed: ‘I went over to the bed at night to talk to her and I’m thinking, no-one can see anything as I’d not seen the show before. ‘She’s been joking that I had an acorn and for a guy that was pretty hard to take, and she was wrong of course. I started talking to her, slightly intimate, and we connected.
‘As I was walking back to my hammock something was incredibly visible, that was the night that I thought I really like this girl.’ Admitting he originally thought Price had been ‘playing him about’, Andre admitted he was devastated when Katie left the jungle after realising there was more between them. He related their relationship to Mark Wright and Emily Scott’s flirtation in the jungle, telling the TOWIE star: ‘So Mark if you have any feelings for Emily don’t hide them because I have the best children in the world.’ Peter Andre also dished out advice to Markl Wright on his relationship with Lauren Goodger .
The pair later bonded over their respective failed relationships, with Andre offering Mark advice on how to cope with his split from fiancée Lauren Goodger. Mark told Peter: ‘I don’t know how you feel, or felt, but I’m finding things hard with my ex, but I know it’s not right” ‘I think my head has moved on as I want to be with someone else but my heart won’t move on.’ Andre replied: ‘Then I’m sorry to say it, you’re gonna hate me but you’re not ready to. ‘If she means something to you then there has got to be another way.’
The pair discussed their respective relationships at length before hinting at the possibility of a reconciliation, with Pete saying: ‘If this experience has made you clearer in the mind, then great, but it sounds to me that there’s still something there, I can’t imagine her not doing anything to make it right.’ ‘I know she would’, said Mark.
Peter’s time in the jungle came ahead of the latest I’m a Celeb eviction, which saw Crissy Rock get the boot from the ITV series. The 53-year-old admitted that although she was happy to leave the jungle camp, she had loved ‘every minute’ of her time on the show.
