First Division
New Salamis 3 Panthea 1: New Salamis still unbeaten in the League this season, gave a very convincing performance against Panthea who started the game well and it took to the 31st minute with a goal from Jeff Hammond to start the ball rolling for the reds. Steve Valendia added a second five minutes later with a penalty.
In the second half Panthea went full steam for an equaliser and were able to get a goal back in the 55th minute with a cracking goal from Sean Bonnet Johnson and tried hard to get the equaliser but New Salamis were not giving up on getting another goal which they did in the 88th minute with a classic scissors kick from George Gregoriou.
Aradippou 2 Brotherhood 2: Aradippou have got to be the team to watch their games are always exciting all goal mouth action. Aradippou led from the 30th minute with a penalty goal from Ismet Brotherhood were able to equalise in the 40th minute with a goal from Chris Hajipapa and on half time Ismet gave Aradippou the lead again. Brotherhood straight after the break equalised with a clinical finish from their goal king Aaron Kennedy. There were still loads of action from both teams and both keepers were kept busy. Aradippou had a player sent off in the 80th minute.
Dynamo 1 Omonia 4: This was a very important win for Omonia it has lifted them from 3rd from bottom to 5th in the table as a result of the teams up to the 4th spot losing. It was a goalless stalemate in the first half it and looked like it was going to be the same in the second half until Omonia broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a goal from Rob Collins who tapped the ball into the back of the net after a double save from the Dynamo keeper Steve Kalli. Within ten minutes Omonia added another two goals with Andy and Harry Elia. Dynamo got one back with John Nicholas and with minutes ticking away Omonia got their fourth goal with an own goal.
AEL 0 Tripimeni 2: AEL felt they could have got more out of this game and it was not right until the end of the game with minutes to go and injury time that both goals were scored. Tripimeni’s first goal was scored by Naim penalty and Alex Roussis. Tripimeni’s win keeps them in second place 9 points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Cetinkaya Cinar 3 Rizokarpasso 1: Cetinkaya are buzzing at the moment two wins on the trot against good teams Rizokarpasso and Panthea, so at last they have found their feet. Cetinkaya Cinar were two up at half time courtesy of two goals from Marcus and Sheldon. Rizokarpasso got a goal back with a Harry Vazanias penalty in the 55th minute and Marcus scored a second goal in the 75th minute giving Cetinkaya Cinar a 3-1 win.
Second Division
Olympia 1 Komi Kebir 2: Division 2 leaders Olympia received a setback when they lost to middle of the table Komi Kebir. Komi Kebir are a team that can decide the second division title race they are capable of beating any one in their division on their day. Olympia took the lead in the 25th minute with a goal from Darren Hassan they could only hold on to the lead for two minutes when Komi Kebir equalised from a free kick into the area and Andy Zavrou was there to tap the ball into the back of the net. It all happened in the first half with Volkan scoring Komi’s second goal in the 40th minute. In the second half there was chances’ going spare Andy Zavros came close for Komi when he hit the bar. Komi Kebir played the last ten minutes with ten men when one of their players got sent off.
Anorthosis 0 Apoel 6: I had predicted this to be the match of the day , I expected a closer game with Anorthosis going to give the new Division 2 leaders a difficult game. Anorthosis started well but once Apoel had scored two goals they’re heads dropped. Apoel are going to take some stopping they are very composed and they got a good keeper in Darren Behcet who brought off some good saves.
Apoel’s goals were scored by Michael Spencer 2, Marvin Samuel 2, Matthew Gulfer and Jason Mason.
Pendayia 1 Pantel 2: The game began with both teams playing fast paced, tough football. Chances came few and far between and were it not for some good stops from the Pendayia goalkeeper Pantel could have been ahead early. It was Pantel who got on the score sheet first when a good shot rebounded off the post and an unfortunate Pendayia defender sliced his clearance into the back of his own net.
Pendayia continued to push for the equaliser and 5 minutes from the end of the first half they were rewarded when Spiros Papadatos was brought down in the penalty area . Captain Vas Nicou stepped up and slotted the ball away perfectly.
The second half, neither team could find a way through their opponent’s tough backline. The decisive goal in the game came when Andreas capitalised on a mistake at the back from Pendayia and smashed the ball into the back of the net to give the visitors a 2-1 win.
Maronites 4 KLN 3: Newly formed KLN under Jimmy Cattle and Paul Brian are progressing nicely although they have not won a game they are giving tough games to their opponents. Maronites took the lead with a goal from Adam before Mario Charalambides equalised for KLN, Maronites increased their lead to 4-1 with their goals coming from Dimitri Hitras , a great goal from debutant Yianni Hapeshis who hit the ball from 20 yards into the back of the net and Adam scored a second. Maronites were coasting at 4-1 and thought the game was theirs. KLN would not give up and were still trying hard to get back into the game and were rewarded with two goals from Yianni Pilavakis and Rio Bryan Edwards.
