President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu are holding a new meeting on Monday in the context of UN-backed talks for a solution to the Cyprus problem.
In their previous meeting last Monday, President Christofias and Eroglu discussed the chapter of property in a meeting described by President Christofias as “a failure.“
Alexander Downer, the UN Secretary-General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus, also described the meeting as “fairly unsuccessful.“
UN-backed talks for a solution of the problem of Cyprus, divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third, began in September 2008.
