THREE UNKNOWN men and a woman attacked and stole €10,310 worth of jewellery, a mobile phone and around €2,000 in cash from a 60-year-old woman in Nicosia on Thursday night, but missed a further €16,000 they could have stolen.
According to police, the 60-year-old woman, who owns a gold-selling business received a call from an unknown woman saying that she had no means to come to the shop and could she meet with her at a location in Aglandjia.
When the gold buyer arrived outside Athalassa park, and while still in her car she began speaking to the woman who had originally called, who was in her own car. One of three men then opened the buyer’s car door, sprayed her in the eyes with an unknown substance and pulled her out by the hair.
He then called on two other men who had been hiding in the park at the time and they sped off in the 60-year-old woman’s car, which was later found abandoned in a field on the Athalassa–Yeri road.
The first man is described as having a strong build, a big forehead, aged 30-35 and wearing dark clothes at the time of the robbery.
Police said that the car originally contained €18,480 in cash, the woman’s phone and jewellery worth €10,310. However after the robbery, police found €16,460 in cash still in the car.
