Erdogan says Turkey has exerted every effort for the recognition of the breakaway regime

Turkish Cypriot daily Volkan (16.11.11) reports that the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that Turkey has offered great support to the establishment of the “TRNC”, breakaway regime in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, and exerted every effort for the recognition of this regime.

Addressing the parliamentary group of his party at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), Erdogan referred to the 28th anniversary from the unilateral declaration of independence (UDI) of the breakaway regime and said that especially during the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) governments, Turkey exerted great support to the regime’s development, prosperity as well as its strengthening economically and politically.

Erdogan recalled that the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Cyprus, Besir Atalay was in the occupied area of Cyprus for the celebrations.

Erdogan said that in parallel to the support of Turkey for the regime’s infrastructure and the superstructure, they continue their efforts for transferring water to the occupied area of Cyprus with undersea pipelines and added that they want to complete this project in 2013.
