The KOPA League showed respect by having a minutes silence on Sunday at all their matches to commemorate  Remembrance day a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

First Division

Aradippou 4 New Salamis 6: This has got to be the game of the season, when I told a colleague  the score he thought I was  talking about a tennis match and that it was the score of the first set.

It’s amazing what over confidence can do, the League leaders New Salamis were 5-0 up within twenty minutes with goals from Justin in two minutes, a Richard Georgiou penalty made it 2-0 in the 8th minute Steve Valendia made it three in the 17th, Jeff Hammond two in the 19th and 24th minutes going into the half time break 5-0 up.

Second half was a different story, you would think Aradippou be well beaten, but they came out in the second half great guns. Within two minutes of the second half Aradippou  got one back with Danny Vera fifthteen minutes later  it was 5-4 . Danny Vera made it a hat trick and Tony Kromidia got the other. This was definitely a game of two halves now the pressure was on New Salamis to hold off Aradippou and maintain their unbeaten run. Chances were created by both teams and with five minutes to go Dean Fenton scored the final goal after some good team build up from the Red’s. I like to congratulate both teams on a great exciting game.

Panthea 4 Dynamo 0: Dynamo must be very disappointed with this result as they have been playing very well recently and Panthea had lost their last two games. It took to the 35th for the first goal coming Panthea’s way with a goal from super marksman Kyri Kyprianou to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Second half Dynamo had chances but failed to capitalise  and by pushing forward left their rear guard wide open. Panthea went onto score a further three goals with two from Shaun Bennett Johnson and one from Nick Salapatas to get  Panthea back to winning ways and lifting them up to 4th place.

Brotherhood 3 AEL 0: A good win for Brotherhood leaving them unbeaten in their last three games and lifting them out of the relegation zone. They were two nil up within three minutes with the first goal from  Safraz Pivano who scored when the ball fell at his feet after a great save from the AEL keeper from a shot from Aaron . The second Brotherhood goal was scored by Aaron who tagged onto a through ball. And that’s how it ended in the first half. AEL had a chance to get a goal back when they got a penalty but failed to score. AEL were playing good football but could not score to get back into the game. Brotherhood scored a third goal in the last minute and Aaron Kennedy’s second giving them a much needed three points.

Omonia 1 Cetinkaya Cinar 1:  Shows the high standard of the League when these two clubs are battling to get out of the relegation zone. Cetinkaya Cinar started off well creating chance after chance and got their reward in the 25th minute when Marcus sent the ball across the goal and Salih Caracas was on hand to tap the ball into the back of the net. Omonia tried frantically to get back into the game and waited till added time to score their equaliser with a header from Antonis Aristides.

Tripimeni 3 Rizokarpasso 2:  Tripimeni maintain their position in second place in the table with a 3-2 win over Rizokarpasso with two goals coming from Karim to give them a two goal lead before Rizokarpasso replied with a goal from Ben Andreas who swivelled past two players and hit the ball into the corner of the net. Tripimeni made it 3-1 with a strike from new striker Alfie Moon. Leon Semper managed to get a goal back for Rizokarpasso late in the game making it 3-2 final score.

Second Division

Olympia 8 Achna 0: Olympia are back at the top of the second division table after defeating poor Achna.  Olympia scored four goals in each half. Olympia’s goals came from Antonis Pratsides 2, Leno Christodoulou 2,  Vince Rispoli 1, Kerem 1 and Kyri Georgiou.

Maronites 4 Komi Kebir 4: Another exciting game with Komi Kebir taking the lead four times with a great end to end football match . Maronites must be disappointed as a win would have taken them into second place so now remain in 4th place. Jason Lambri started the ball rolling when he made it 1-0 for Komi  the other Komi goals coming from Mario Seyho three goals. Maronite’s goals came from Dino Costa 3 and Elias Koutsoulides. It was 2-2 half time. Man of the match was the Komi Kebir goal keeper Aris Hadjikkou who saved a penalty in the 88th minute and who also made a double save from a one on one situation.

Arachne 1 Pendayia 1: Pendayia who have been on form recently played a much improved Arachne team who took the lead in this tight game in the 60th minute with a penalty goal from Andy Marcou. Pendayia got back into the game in the 80th minute with a fine strike from the edge of the box  both teams were very well organised .

Pantel 3 Anorthosis 1: Pantel have been playing very well recently and are very well organised and much improved but were let down by their inconsistency at the beginning of the season. Anorthosis have probably got the best players in the division, but the team is not fulfilling its potential. This win takes Pantel one point behind third placed Anorthosis. It took to the 50th minute for the first goal with a penalty taken by Israel,  ten minutes later Anorthosis equalised with a goal from former KLN player Danny Cooldridge. Pantel increased their lead in the 70th minute with a cracking goal from Andreas who had a tight angle to contend with. In the 75th minute Israel missed a penalty to extend Pantel’s lead but made amends when he scored his second and Pantel’s third goal. Anorthosis had a player sent off in the 75th minute.
