First Division
New Salamis 6 Dynamo 3: George Gregoriou started the ball rolling for the League leaders when he notched on to a pass from Andy Loizou to score the first goal . Dougie Morton made it two nil from a set piece. Then Richard Georgiou made it three to the reds. Dynamo scored just before half time with Alex Violaris.
The second half Dynamo took the home team by surprise when Yan put through new signing Rico through to score Dynamo’s second goal. New Salamis had to up their tempo as Dynamo had found confidence to attack them but the reds held out and went onto score another two goals in the 80th and 82nd minutes with Steve Velandia from the edge of the box and a left foot strike from George Gregoriou. Dynamo were still battling and scored a third goal from a set piece a second for Alex Violaris.
With three minutes to go John Kyriakou scored from long range giving New Salamis a 6-3 win keeping New Salamis unbeaten and at the top of the League with 21 points , whilst Dynamo drop to fourth place.
Tripimeni 5 Omonia 1: Tripimeni really went to roost today against a disappointing Omonia team. Alex Roussos began the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute. This was followed by two goals from the Rifat brothers, one a penalty from Ahmet and the other a fine strike from Nicky just before half time.
Straight after the break Karim made it 4-0 before Antonis Aristides got one back for Omonia . Karim got his second goal and fifth for Tripimeni in the 80th minute. This result takes Tripimeni into second place and drops Omonia into the relegation zone.
Cetinkaya Cinar 4 Panthea 2: Bottom of the table Cetinkaya Cinar produced the surprise result of the day with this victory over last year’s League runners up . Cetinkaya were 4-0 up at half time with Salih scoring a hat trick and Marcus Stewart the other.
Straight after the break Panthea scored from a penalty well taken by Essbee who also scored a second in the 70th minute. Panthea were now driving forward and Cetinkaya were counter attacking. This was the first win of the season for Cetinkaya Cinar and the second defeat in a row for Panthea.
Aradippou 1 AEL 1: Aradippou played some great football to get a draw with AEL who had taken the lead with a penalty from George Michael. Aradippou were pressing and got a deserved equaliser through Dassos. This draw lifts Aradippou to 6th place and Ael remain in third place.
Rizokarpasso 1 Brotherhood 2: In form Rizokarpasso began the game well leading the first half 1-0 with a goal from Leon Semper. Rizo had loads of chances in the first half but could not capitalise. Second half Brotherhood changed the game with Aaron Kennedy the hero scoring twice giving Brotherhood a 2-1 win. This win lifts Brotherhood to 7th place.
Second Division
Pendayia 1 Olympia 0: Olympia lost their unbeaten run in a tough encounter with Pendayia who are at long last beginning to find their feet. Olympia are now second and level on points with new leaders by goal average Apoel and third placed Anorthosis.
The game was very tight both teams well organised and it took to the 85th minute to break the deadlock and Pendayia to score the winner with Sami. This lifts Pendayia to 6th place.
Komi Kebir 0 Apoel 1: The new second division leaders Apoel struggled to beat Komi Kebir , It was a very defensive game and it really needed a goal to wake up both teams but it never came until right at the end with a strike from Apoel’s new signing Richard Worrall.
KLN 1 Anorthosis 6: Third in the table Anorthosis had a comfortable win over KLN. Credit is due to KLN who were playing only their second game of the season , they held Anorthosis at 2-1 at one stage when Mario scored KLN’s only goal. Anorthosis goals came from Danny Coolridge 4 , Alexander Birri and Alex Kyriakides.
Achna 1 Maronites 5: Maronites who are now just behind the top three, by two points beat Achna 5-1 who have fallen apart in recent weeks. Maronites led within minutes of the start with an own goal then in the 22nd minute Dino Costa scored another for them. Maronites increased their lead with an absolute 30 yard screamer from Luke Demetriades making it 3-0. Greg Christoforou scored a consolation goal for Achna making it 3-1. Elias Kousoulides scored a further two goals to give Maronites a 5-1 win.
Arachne 2 Pantel 3 : was an exciting game , both teams being creative and playing open football at both ends of the pitch. Arachne were ahead within five minutes with a goal from Lorenzo. Pantel equalised in the 10th minute with Israel . Arachne took the lead again in the 55th minute with a Leo free kick . Pantel equalised again in the 75th minute. Pantel were screaming forward and were rewarded in the 80th minute with another goal from Israel giving him a hat trick and a 3-2 win for Pantel. Three players were sent off , two from Arachne and one from Pantel.
