Things are going from bad to worse for poorly George Michael as he battles pneumonia.

As well as facing Christmas in hospital, the singer could lose his singing voice altogether, according to one expert.

Ear, nose and throat surgeon Gerrit Wohlt has warned that the treatment George is receiving could have a damaging effect on his voice.

He told The Mirror: “In the worst case scenario, being on a ventilator could harm his vocal cords. He could end up with a hoarse voice, so a new year comeback is unlikely. He will need months of rest.”

Despite being keen to return to the UK, the Wham! star remains in hospital in Vienna where he has been told by doctors he may have to stay until the new year.

There have been reports that he is also suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, although his partner, Fadi Fawaz has insisted he is on the mend.

The singer became ill during his sold out Symphonica world tour. He has cancelled all of the remaining 14 dates.

Get well soon George
