There are times in celebland when our jaws literally hit the floor, and this is one of them. We barely recognised Dawn French when these pictures of the star dropped on our desk this morning.

The comedienne is now a shadow of her former self after a dramatic weight loss, which has seen her drop to a size 16.

Dawn showed off her amazing new figure on the red carpet of the Galaxy National Book Awards in London this weekend, rocking a LDB and a chic new ‘do.

We first saw the effects of Dawn’s new healthier lifestyle after she appeared at the Glamour Awards back in June this year, but the comedienne has continued to shed the pounds.

Dawn had already lost over four stone, but has continued her battle against the bulge – at her heaviest she tipped the scales at 19 stone, but is now an amazing size 16.

She decided to ditch the chocolate bars she was famed for loving after having fears for her health.
