Candidacies for Mayors, members of Municipal Councils and members of school boards to be elected during the Local Authority elections were submitted on Thursday.

The elections are scheduled for December 18, and will cost taxpayers some 5.5 million euro. The public will be voting for mayors and community leaders, municipal councilors and members of school boards. Voting will take place at some 1,500 polling stations nationwide. Community leaders’ candidacies will be submitted on November 21.

Candidacies were submitted for 12 municipalities in Nicosia district, six municipalities in Limassol district, six municipalities in Larnaca district, four municipalities in Paphos district, eight municipalities of Famagusta district and three municipalities in occupied Kyrenia district.
