Ayia Napa and Protaras beaches ranked among the top European beaches in a poll carried out by a well-known European tourism website “Trip Advisor”. Ayia Napa beaches rank first and Protaras beaches third among the beaches of Europe.

Twenty-three beaches of Agia Napa and Protaras were awarded the Blue Flag, something that proves the high standard of quality of those beaches, Secretary of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iacovos Hadjivarnavas has said.

Speaking to CNA, Hadjivarnavas said that approximately the one third of the tourists visit Cyprus, stay at a hotel in the region of Famagusta. The main reasons that the tourists choose Ayia Napa and Protaras for their holidays are the clean waters, the fine beaches, the hospitality of people and the quality of the services offered by the region’s tourism industry.

However, Hadjivarnava pointed out that more infrastructure works need to be done in the region of Famagusta, in order to enrich the tourist product and to further improve the level of services offered.

He specifically referred to Protaras and Ayia Napa marinas and golf courts. Hadjivarnava said that private strategic investors are expected to undertake those works.
