Vicky Soteriou has been found guilty of plotting to kill her husband by the Supreme Court on Friday.

In the trial which lasted two weeks, Chris Soteriou, Vicky’s husband, said he had no idea the attack was being planned and sobbed heavily in court when the guilty verdict was read out. Outside court, he said “justice has prevailed, it’s a good day, it’s a good result, hopefully we can close this chapter and move on”.

“I want to thank my family, they’ve been the best, my friends, everyone that has supported me for the last eighteen months.

“It’s been hell, hopefully we can just move on,” he said. Soteriou was brutally stabbed seven times and also had his throat cut by his wife’s lover Ari Dimitriakis as he and his wife were walking to their car after a night out in Fitzroy, Melbourne. He said his wife watched this brutal attack take place.

The trial revealed the pair wanted to receive Chris’s million dollar life insurance policy. Dimitriakis, who pleaded guilty, has a reduced sentence of seven years for giving information on Soteriou.
