Turkish Cypriot daily Gunes (19.10.11) reports that the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu held a meeting yesterday in Ankara with the Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.
Eroglu exchanged views with Erdogan about the latest developments of the negotiations for the solution of the Cyprus problem, prior to the tripartite meeting with President Demetris Christofias and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York, at the end of October.
Eroglu met with the Turkish Prime minister in the framework of his visit to Turkey where he was decorated with the “Honorary International Relations Doctorate” by the Canakkale (Dardanelles) 18 Mart University and delivered a speech about the past and the present for the negotiation of the Cyprus problem.
He also had a telephone conversation with the Turkish President Abdullah Gul with whom he also exchanged views about the Cyprus negotiations.
Speaking at the occupied airport of Tympou upon his return from Turkey, Eroglu stated that the contacts he held in Ankara were fruitful. He also stated that he undertook a detailed health control at Ankara, where he had a hard operation some time ago and stated that the results came out to be fine.
