Solve Cyprus problem & T/Cypriots will enjoy benefits of natural gas exploration

As long as the Turkish occupation and the insistence for the existence of a pseudostate continue it will unfortunately not be possible for Turkish Cypriots to enjoy the benefits of natural gas exploration, said House of Representatives President Yiannakis Omirou.

Turkey is to blame for this predicament, since it persists to illegally occupy 37% of the Republic of Cyprus’ territory, Omirou added, during his address at a national memorial for EOKA heroes Andreas Patsalides and Charalambos Pettemerides at Kanavia village, located in the Nicosia District south west of the capital.

He also noted that those who wish for stability and security to prevail in the region should focus their attention on Turkish aggression.

Turkey, he stressed, must make historic decisions. “It will either cooperate with the countries in the region towards a happy future for its people, or it will insist in anachronistic and neo-ottoman behaviour which will place it in the margins of developments”, he added
