There has been strong interest from the Russian oil giant Gazprom to reasearch and explore for Natural gas in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone. On November the 19th later this year a Russian aircraft carrier and a large destroyer is expected to sail to the Mediteranean. The Russian fleet will include 25 planes and in addition  helicopters.
