People are being warned to be on their guard after two men claiming to be water board officials tricked their way into the home of two pensioners.

The incident happened in Bullsmoor Way, Enfield, at the home of the pensioners aged 79 and 81, on Tuesday October 18, between 1.45pm and 3.45pm where officers claim they may have left before having time to steal any property.

Police in Enfield are advising people to remain watchful for burglars to avoid a repeat of the incident and have released prevention advice to tackle thieves.

Officers say people should keep doors locked, even if they are at home. They also advise keeping the door on the chain while talking to the person on the doorstep and to check their identity card carefully.

Police said both suspects are white. The first is heavy built with a round face and short black hair and was wearing dark trousers and a long-sleeved navy top with a red logo on the left chest aged between 20 and 30 and described by police as having a ‘country’ accent.

The second suspect is slim, blond, and was wearing light clothing in his late teens. Anyone with information should call DC Eddie Norman, Enfield Burglary and Robbery team.
