An open air cinema or outdoor market could be set up on a temporary basis outside Hornsey Town Hall.
Haringey Council is currently consulting residents on what they would like to see take over the vacant square off The Broadway, Crouch End.
The spacious site has already been granted a short-term street trading licence in May, which could allow anything to be introduced from musical and theatre shows to craft fairs and farmers’ markets.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Let’s make this lovely location the jewel in the crown of Crouch End.”
Plans to set up a farmers’ market were first suggested earlier this year by a group of residents – but the idea has divided the community with some fearing it could take trade away from already struggling businesses.
The trial period for street trading will allow up to 10 events to take place from the beginning of November in the lead up to Christmas.
