Paul Economides nicknamed the Spartan put on a great title-winning display at a sold-out Northgate Arena in Chester recently when he won a almighty clash with Shaun Doherty to be crowned the British Masters super-bantamweight champion.

The 24-year-old overcame defending champion Doherty 98-94 on points after a brutal 10-round battle that will live long in the memory of the 1,000-strong crowd.
Paul is born in Chester Parents from Kakopetria and Famagusta and is engaged to Katia Menicou born in Liverpool whose parents are from Dherynia.
Paul started boxing at aged 11 having the first Amateur Fight aged 12, then went on to win the Welsh ABAs, 3yrs running he went to the multi nations to represent Wales where he picked up a Bronze Medal.
At age 21 he decided to turn Professional were he made the move to a highly reputablel Professional Boxing Trainer Steve Goodwin at Chester Boxers.
Paul is now training to fight in December in a World IBO Championship eliminator versus Irish Australian Paul Finney in Manchester.
He made a recent visit to London and we met him at his cousin Mario Ioannou’s gym Paramount in Palmers Green where he spoke to Parikiaki saying that he was proud to be Cypriot and wears the Cyprus flag on his shorts and is keen to one day fight in London and Cyprus in front of a Cypriot crowd.

Paul is competing for the WBC International Title
On Saturday 22nd October 2016. This is live on Sky TV. Should he win he will be a contender for the famous and coveted WBC World Title. Paul continues to self fund his training with the help of friends and his trainer Steve Goodwin and is now promoted by one of the biggest boxing promotors in world boxing.
