Cyprus leaders had on Friday an extensive discussion on a number of issues, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus Lisa Buttenheim said after today’s meeting between President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu.
Buttenheim said that the leaders met for six hours and had a broad discussion, adding that it was agreed that their representatives will follow-up on Monday in the afternoon.
She noted that the representatives will meet to follow-up the discussion and that the leaders will meet again on Tuesday morning.
Asked if the “give and take“ process started today, Buttenheim said “we have entered this new phase now so they had a discussion on a number of issues. I don’t want to characterize it other than to say that they did discuss extensively different issues.“
