Cypriot twin brothers join TOWIE cast
Popular reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) returned to our screens on 25th September 2011 with its third series.
Following the departure of Amy Childs over the summer, the ITV2 show has made three fresh additions to the reality soap; Mario Falcone who plays Lucy Mecklenburgh‘s new lover and twin brothers George and Dino Georgiades. The twins were introduced in a scene where they shook energy drinks vigorously, while wearing only tight white boxer shorts!
Later in the episode, George and Dino were integrated into the main cast at a party, where they flirted with singletons Gemma Collins and Maria Fowler.
Dino told Parikiaki that he and his brother were chosen to appear in TOWIE “because we have a different quality to bring to the show as we are part-time models and also identical twins.”
The boys, who were born in Essex to Cypriot parents, say they are extremely proud of their Greek Cypriot roots and “try to visit home when work permits.” “There’s nothing quite like the Cypriot sunshine!” said George.
Growing up people would find it difficult to tell them apart so for this reason, their mother Rita would dress them in the same clothes, just a different colour…Dino in red and George in blue, and this they say, may have influenced their choice of football teams; Dino supports Arsenal whilst George is a Tottenham fan!
The twins have lots of family living in north London and when they are in the area, they make sure they pay a visit to their favourite Greek restaurant, Thalassa, in Southgate.
“The owner Lenos always makes us feel welcome and serves some of the best seafood we have tasted,” said Dino. “And it fits in with our healthy regime of a good diet and lots of exercise including gym and kickboxing in order to maintain our fitness model physiques.”
Concluding, Dino and George said they hope to do our community proud; “We like to be seen as cheeky chaps that like having a laugh and not taking ourselves too seriously so hopefully this will come across in the show,” said George.
Dino added, “We would love people from the Greek community to show us their support and to come and say hello if they ever see us about. You can even teach us some Greek as we don’t get to practise it often in Essex,” he smiles.
Catch the Georgiades twins in The Only Way Is Essex, every Sunday and Wednesday on ITV2.
