SCHOOLCHILDREN won 13 prizes for their artwork in a competition across London included was Andrew Stylianow who came second in the 14 and under category for three dimensional art.
Kids at Normanhurst School in Chingford excelled in the annual Independent School Association Art Competition, beating rivals from as wide afield as Knightsbridge and Bedford to secure the high number of awards at a time when a record number of schools took part.
These included six first prizes, meaning their recipients at the school in Station Road will now compete in the national finals later this year. Ben Maclean won the 16 and under textiles prize, while first place was awarded to Natasha Vassileva for her sketchbook work in the 11 and over category.
Siena Reed came first in the 14 and under category for three dimensional art, edging out Andrew Stylianou, who came second.
Headmistress Claire Osborn said: “I am so proud of our pupils who achieve very highly at many age groups, they are encouraged by our enthusiastic Art department headed by Payam Beint. Our art will be on display in the National Finals next – this also follows on from our first private view which was held in the Art House Gallery, in North Chingford, last term.”
