The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices by the end of August 2011, reached 26.657 persons, marking an increase of 4.292 persons or 19.2% compared to August 2010.
According to the Statistical Service, based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for August 2011 increased to 28.328 persons in comparison to 27.804 in the previous month.
It said that in comparison with August 2010, an increase of 4.292 persons or 19.2% was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of trade (an increase of 1.191 unemployed persons), construction (an increase of 781), public administration (an increase of 425), manufacturing (an increase of 393), transportation and storage (an increase of 267), accommodation and food service activities (an increase of 165), as well as to newcomers in the labour market where an increase of 851 unemployed persons was recorded.
