Turkish Prime Minister meets Greek & Cypriot community in USA

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Archbishop Demetrios and several leading Greek Americans during the Turkish leader’s visit to New York on the occasion of the opening session of the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting took place Friday evening, September 23 at Manhattan’s Peninsula Hotel. The National Herald was informed that a number of matters were discussed, including the rights and condition of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Attendees included Dr. Anthony Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of St. Andrew, Michael Jaharis, Vice Chairman of the Archdiocesan Council, and businessmen Dennis Mehiel and John Catsimatidis. At the Annual Testimonial Dinner of the Cyprus Federation of America that was held on the same night, TNH was told by new AHEPA Supreme President John Grossomanides, Jr. that a high level delegation of AHEPA leaders will visit Ankara on October 20 to discuss concerns of the Greek and Cypriot American Community with Turkish officials.
