Two robbers held up a car carrying the weekend takings of a supermarket  this morning making off with €50,000.
The incident occurred at around 10.30am as the manager of the ‘Orphanides Mall’ was leaving the supermarket basement in his car with two female employees in the passenger seats.
According to the Paphos Deputy Police Chief the robbers in a grey Toyota Yaris saloon car blocked the manager’s vehicle. One of the men wearing hood and gloves, got out and using what must have been a fake handgun, smashed the driver’s window and demanded the money in Greek. Noticing that the money bag was in the co-driver’s seat, he went round the other side, smashed that window as well and grabbed the bag without opening the door. He then rejoined his waiting accomplice and together made their escape with the money.
The supermarket manager suffered facial injuries as a result of the broken glass.
The police have launched a manhunt to locate the robbers.
