A man’s daughter and grandson were born on the same day in the same hospital in Greater Manchester.
Peter Lee’s wife, Ann-Marie Mills, 32, went into labour with their third child on 8 September.
They went to Tameside hospital and baby Racheal was born at 04:29 BST the next day, weighing 7lb 10oz (3.5kg).
Mr Lee’s daughter Sharon, 24, went into labour as he and his wife were leaving the hospital. Bradley was born at 18:10 BST weighing 8lb 14oz (4kg).
Mr Lee, now a father-of-six, said: “I didn’t think this would ever happen – it certainly wasn’t planned like that.
“I just felt elated. I was so happy. It really was fantastic.”
“It isn’t every day that a dad becomes a dad and a granddad in the same day,” he added.
A spokesman for bookmakers Ladbrokes said the odds of it happening were one million to one.
Mr Lee, 54, of Smallshaw Lane in Ashton-under-Lyne, said he wished he had put a bet on at the bookmakers before the births
