A 24-hour strike has started at the Hilton in Nicosia with workers citing violation of collective agreements and legislation on working conditions in hotels by their employer.
In a joint statement, several unions which included PEO   and SEK described “provocative and degrading” behavior of the hotel management towards employees and stated that “despite the patience and persistence of the trade union movement and sincere efforts to bridge disputes “this was not possible.

The unions reported that this dispute has been going on for several months.
