Businessman Antonis Fanieros is set to appear before the town’s district court on Friday to face 20 charges of serious criminal offences. forcible entry, forcible retention of property, kidnapping and robbery.

He is also suspected of claiming  property by threats, arson, participation in a criminal organization and concealing profits from illegal acts.

 The gambling tycoon was arrested late on Thursday, and according to his lawyer, Antonis Indianos, he is suspected to be behind a recent murder attempt in the coastal town.

Police announced they will give a press conference later on Friday to shed more light on the arrest for which a large number of police officers had to take part.
