President of the Republic Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu are meet Monday, in the context of UN-led intensified direct talks to solve the Cyprus problem. The meeting takes place at the residence of the UN Secretary General`s Special Representative in Cyprus Liza Buttenheim, in the UN-protected area in Nicosia.
The leaders are expected to discuss the question of citizenship, immigration and aliens. According to UN Secretary General`s Special Advisor on Cyprus Alexander Downer, the leaders will also discuss that issue on Wednesday. They will meet again on Friday to discuss the economy. During their previous meeting last Thursday, the two leaders completed the discussion of the property issue.
President Christofias and Eroglu are due to have a third meeting with the UN Secretary General in late October, in New York. In their previous meeting, in July, they agreed to intensify the pace of the talks.
