Russia – Cyprus cooperation

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has noted that enhancing cooperation between Cyprus and Russia is a priority.

In a message to President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias on the occasion of his 65th birthday, Medvedev says that “in Russia they justly consider you a sincere friend of our country and highly appreciate your contribution over many years to the development of relations between Russia and Cyprus.“

In his message, which was posted on the Kremlin`s official website, Medvedev says he expects their “personal dialogue to contribute in the future as well to promoting a constructive agenda, both on a bilateral and international level,“ noting that he places great importance on the implementation of agreements reached in October 2010, which marked their talks in Cyprus.

He also expresses certainty that the further dynamic development of this relationship “responds to the fundamental interests of the people of Russia and Cyprus, and serves to establish regional and international stability.“
