High streets in Haringey will be given a face lift in time for the Olympics thanks to £200,000 from the Mayor of London.

Muswell Hill and Green Lanes are both benefitting from the release of money from the Mayor’s Outer London Fund.

The £50million fund will be used to redevelop parts of London that do not directly benefit from the economic boost of the Olympic Games and Crossrail project.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “This cash injection means councils, like Haringey, can start work today to attract more people into their area, boost economic growth and bring the buzz back to their high streets.”

In Muswell Hill £90,233 will be spent on improving local signage and creating a local festive magazine.

Meanwhile the famous Green Lanes Food Festival will receive £99,400 to develop and expand.
