Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a teenager was murdered in north London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approx 17.30hrs on Wednesday 17 August to Ponders End Recreation Ground, High Street/South Street, Enfield. A boy had been found in the middle of the recreation ground, by a concrete wall – he had suffered a stab wound.

He was confirmed dead at the scene.

He was Leroy James [2.9.96 – 14 ys] of Edmonton N9.

A post-mortem will be held at 11.00hrs today (Thursday) at Haringey mortuary

An incident room is opening under DCI Caroline Goode (HSCC).

DCI Goode said: “We urgently need to trace anyone who was in the park around that time on Wednesday afternoon, and who may have seen the incident in which Leroy was stabbed.

“At this early stage we retain an open mind on the circumstances of the assault, and do need the public’s assistance.”

If it assists the appeals, Leroy is black.

There has been no arrest re. his murder at this time.
