Demonstrators young and old filled the streets on Saturday in a march to demand: Give Our Kids A Future.
An estimated 3,000 people of all ages and backgrounds marched through Haringey and Hackney a week to the day after the Tottenham riots began.
Spurred on by the violence that erupted, the march was organised by a hastily-formed group made up of anti-cuts alliances and a number of Turkish organisations from both boroughs.
With a parade fronted by 12 children, the so-called North London Unity Assembly led the march from Gillet Square in Dalston to Tottenham Green, South Tottenham, to show the world a united front and offer a response to the causes of despair and frustration that can result in riots.
It ended in a rally outside Tottenham Town Hall featuring speeches from more than 30 people touched by the riots, with visions for a brighter future.
The protest group is calling for a culture change that values youth and the unemployed, and supports businesses and those made homeless, investment in youth services and community-led regeneration.
