President of the Republic Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu will be meeting today Tuesday, August 23, in the framework of direct talks for a Cyprus solution, following a brief summer break.

According to a UN press release, the meeting will take place in the morning, at the Chief of Missions’ residence in the United Nations Protected Area of Nicosia.

Speaking after the last all-day meeting, on August 2, UN Secretary General`s Special Advisor on Cyprus, Alexander Downer said the leaders spent a fairly long amount of time focusing on the issue of governance and power-sharing.

“Leaders did discuss governance and power-sharing, and they will be meeting again on Friday (5 August) in a similar format. And we’ll take up from where we’ve left off today and focus on governance and power-sharing”, he said.
