President of Cyprus Demetris Christofias has said that the government aims to proceed to an agreement on measures needed to be taken to improve the economic situation of the country.
Speaking at the anti-occupation event organized by the Turkish occupied Famagusta Municipality, the President said that compromises and sacrifices are needed to be made to tackle economic problems.
“The government’s goal is to proceed, through a dialogue, to agreed measures because if we do not act now, others will take measures for us, and those measures will be painful ones”, he underscored.
Referring to the economic situation in Cyprus, he said that we are faced with a difficult situation and sacrifices and compromises are needed to be made by all, political parties and social partners.
