Energy supply to consumers will continue in adequate levels until the end of August, under certain conditions, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Praxoula Antoniadou and EAC General Manager Stelios Stylianou said on Thursday.
Speaking after a meeting of the House Trade Committee, Antoniadou and Stylianou referred to the “valiant efforts” by EAC staff and others to minimize the impact of the massive explosion on July 11 which destroyed the island’s main power plant.
Borderline supply adequacy has been restored in a very shot time, Antoniadou noted.
Stylianou explained that energy adequacy has been restored, owing to power generators from Greece. The lease contract, he added, has been extended up to February 2012 and in addition to that the EAC expects additional generators from a US contractor to arrive this week.
