The head of Cyprus`s Orthodox Church, Archbishop Chrysostomos II, departs on Sunday for Jordan to meet with the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II. According to a press release, the meeting will take place on Monday, August 22, at the invitation of the King. The Archbishop of Cyprus will be accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Jordan in Cyprus Michalis Leptos and Deacon Kyprianos Kountouris. Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos will also be present at the meeting with the King of Jordan.
Archbishop Chrysostomos is expected to return to the island on Tuesday, August 23, along with the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, accompanied by Archbishop of Constantinis Aristarchos and Archdeacon Athanasios, and the Lutheran Bishop Munib Yunan, to participate in the meeting of the Presidents of Middle East Council of Churches to be held on the same day.
The Patriarch of Jerusalem with his entourage and the Lutheran Bishop will depart from Cyprus soon after the end of the meeting.
