Lord Adonis, the Cypriot Labour peer and former schools minister, was brought up in a children’s home from the age of three.

He investigated the lives of children in care in 2011 for BBC Radio 5 live.

Seventeen-year-old Mohammed and 16-year-old Leah, not her real name, showed the peer around their home at St Christopher’s Fellowship on behalf of Camden Council.
